The High Holidays are a soulful and rejuvenating time at Hamerkaz!

Hamerkaz is known for its soulful yet joyous services with melodies from our chazanim, bringing you a sensational mix of Israeli, Ashkenazi and Sephardic tunes, intertwined with inspiring sermons by Rabbi Motty. With youth programs for all ages and fully-supervised child care for pre-school children during the services, followed by delicious community festive Kiddush lunches - it's a community shul-a-bration at its best.

This year, despite the Lockdowns - indeed because of it - we are again determined to make these the most meaningful and memorable High Holidays ever!

Services will be live-streamed bringing you a sensational High Holiday experience! Check out the schedule of our Covid-safe services and programs, including Shofar at the entrance of Hamerkaz.

What Are the High Holidays?
The two-day holiday of Rosh Hashanah is the head of the Jewish year, the time when G‑d reinvests Himself in creation as we crown Him king of the universe through prayer, shofar blasts, and celebration. A week later, the High Holidays reach their crescendo with Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement). Like angels, we neither eat nor drink for 25 hours. Dressed in white, we pray in the synagogue—united as one people, children of One Father.
